The museum building itself is a piece of history. Known as the Begin House,it was built around 1875 and features the infamous architectural detail called the Lunenburg Bump and an exquisite painted-ceiling.
The Mahone Bay Museum is located on unceded land in the territory of Mi’kma’ki. ‘L’Nu’k,’ meaning ‘the people’ in the Mi’kmaw language, have occupied and honoured these lands for over 10,000 years. For more information about our Mi’kmaw history, click here.
